Week of May 1 We will be completing research papers in class this week. Each student will choose a war to write his/her research paper on.
Week of April 24 Our Middle School Dance was a hit! I learned a lot of new dance moves from our talented 6th graders. This week, we will be studying the Incas. We will have a test on Friday over the Incas and the Mayans.
Week of April 18 We will go to the Special Olympic Games on Friday. Students should wear their green Washington shirts. We will return to school by 12:00 pm, so students will be able to eat their lunches at school.
Week of April 3 We will be studying the Aztecs. We will have a quiz on Thursday this week, because our Etiquette Luncheon is on Friday.
Week of March 27 We will be studying the events that led up to the writing of the Magna Carta and how it has affected other societies.
Week of March 20 We will be studying the Middle Ages. Students will have a test on Friday. Homework this week will require students to map the path of the Black Plague and answer questions about how the plague spread.
Week of March 13 We will be studying the Vikings this week. There will not be any homework, other than studying for your quiz on Friday. Week of March 6 We will be studying ancient Rome. Students will have a test on Friday over Greece and Rome.
Week of February 27 We will be studying Greece this week. Students will learn about the classical cities of Greece. We will have a quiz on Friday.
Week of February 20 I hope you enjoyed your long weekend! When we come back to school on Tuesday, we will be hearing from guest speakers about their various career and college choices. We will also be studying ancient China.
Week of February 13 Happy Valentine's Day! We will continue studying Egypt this week. We will have a test on Friday over the material from last week and this week.
Week of February 6 We will be studying Ancient Egypt this week. You will be given a new homework packet that will be due on February 16. We will have a quiz on Friday.
Week of January 30 We will begin studying ancient civilizations this week. Students will study Mesopotamia, Babylonia, and Hammurabi's Code of Laws. A new homework assignment will be given out on Monday and will be due on Friday.
Week of January 23 We will be studying global cultures and religions this week. Your 5 Themes of Geography project is due on Friday. If you need to use the Chromebooks in my classroom, you are welcome to come in during lunch or after school until 3:30 pm. We will also have a quiz on Friday.
Week of January 16 I hope you all enjoyed your holiday. Please take a moment to remember the legacy and life of Rev. Martin Luther King, JR. He was a remarkable person who peacefully brought change in our country by advocating for civil rights for all Americans. This week, we will be studying map skills. You will have a test on Friday over the 5 Themes of Geography and map skills.
Week of January 9 We will begin our Social Studies class this week. Our homework will be different, because we will have longer projects and packets to work on. Therefore, homework will be due at various times throughout the quarter. Please remind your child to keep up with our due dates each week. We will continue to have tests and quizzes on Fridays each week.
Week of December 19 Thank you all so much for your generous gifts! I am overwhelmed by your thoughtful gifts! I enjoy teaching all of my students and your kindness was just icing on the cake. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year! I look forward to seeing you all on January 9 when we begin studying Social Studies.
Week of December 12 We will be studying the rock cycle this week. Please make sure that your websites and chore charts are completed by Friday.
Week of December 5 We will continue studying Earth science this week as we explore plate tectonics and earthquakes. Please be sure to work on your chore charts at home. These are due by December 16.
Week of November 28 I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving break! This week, we will be studying energy cycles, food chains, and food webs.
Week of November 21 We will be studying photosynthesis this week. We will not have a quiz or homework this week. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
Week of November 14 We will be studying natural systems and cycles this week. We will have a test on Friday. Everyone is doing a great job this quarter, so let's keep up the good work!
Week of November 7 Thank you all for your help in making our field trip a success! Our students were the most well-behaved group in Washington! Friday is a holiday to remember our country's veterans. I hope that this day will be even more significant for our students after visiting the memorials and Arlington Cemetery in Washington. We will have our quiz on Thursday of this week.
Week of October 31 We will be reviewing the history behind the sites that we will be visiting on our trip this week. We will also review the procedures for voting in America. We will talk about the political parties in our country and terms of candidates in various offices.
Week of October 24 Whew! It's been a crazy few weeks! I'm excited to be getting back on a regular schedule at school. This week, we will be studying waves. We will learn about the properties of waves and the different types of waves. We are now entering our 2nd quarter of school. Please be sure to check PowerSchool often to view your child's grades.
Week of October 10 Our first quarter is coming to a close on Friday. We will take our test on Tuesday of this week. Our incentive will be on Friday to celebrate those students that completed all of their work on time in September. We will spend Thursday reviewing the election process and discussing the different parts of government in our state and country. With all of the advertisements and debates on television, I want our students to understand the political party system in the USA.
Week of October 3 We will be studying the methods of transferring heat and the Periodic Table this week. We will have our final test of the 1st quarter on Friday. Your anchoring activities are due on Friday, October 7.
Week of September 26 I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend! We will be studying energy and matter this week. We will have a quiz on Friday over the material that we study this week. Field trip money is due by this Friday, September 30.
Week of September 19 This week, we will be studying the missions that have been launched to explore space. We will learn about the training and school requirements for astronauts and other NASA employees.
Week of September 12 This week, we will be studying the phases of the moon and tides. Please send in Oreo cookies on Monday, if possible. We will use these to complete a lab activity this week. Progress reports will be coming out this week.
Week of September 5 I hope that everyone enjoyed the long Labor Day weekend! We will be studying the cycles of our Earth this week.
Week of August 29 We will be exploring the metric system this week. We will convert numbers and practice measuring items using the metric system. We will also study the process skills that scientists use to complete experiments.
Week of August 22 You survived your 1st week of middle school! Woo Hoo! We are going to be studying the scientific method this week. We will have a test on Friday over all the we have studied since school started. I was so excited to see such high grades on our quiz on August 19, so I'm sure that everyone will do well this week also.
If you need to fill out a Do Not Photo form or a Medical form, you will find them in the front office.
Week of August 15 Welcome to middle school! I am so excited to start a new year! We will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing our classroom policies and procedures. Beginning on Wednesday, we will take notes over lab safety rules. Students will have a Lab Safety Quiz on Friday, August 19.
